C1960 A Wonderful Bronze Toro Bull By Franz Fischer.

Born of Swiss parents in Prague in 1900 he died is 1980 in Zurich. He studied at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich 1916-17 and then served an apprenticeship as a stone mason in Lugano with Luigi Vassalli 1921-23 and 1928-1929 then made a Master Class in Paris with studies at The Acadenie de la Grande Chaumiere.

Fischer's work existsin the public domain in Zurich & Geneva testament to an accomplished presence at important International Exhibitions.

Animals such as dogs and bulls featureprominently in his work during the Midcentury period and this particular Sculpture exemplifies his incredebleability to merge classicism with cubism and abstraction. The evident rectagular panels on the flanks of this Bull are playfully Brutalist, whilst the overall texture and colour and exemplary Foundry stamp add to the importance.
