C1970 A Large French Abstract Bronze Sculpture by Jean - Claude Bonillo.

JEAN-CLAUDE BONILLO French jeweller / Sculptor / Paris.
Jean - Claude BONILLO was born in 1939.
After studying architecture at the National
Ecole des Beaux Arts, he entered the profession in 1963. But after five years he
directed his talents ni a totally new, more creative path: jewelry.
Childhood memories of his grandfather's blacksmith forge fed his fascination with
fire and forge and fusion, and deepened his awareness of the elemental nature of
working metal.
Like the alchemist's crucible, the forge has
a special significance within mythology as
a place of awakening and metamorphosis;
the companion science of metallurgy is full
of rite and ritual. From this chemistry, he creates shapes drawn both from the
elemental and the ethereal: the wind, the earth, the waves, fire and water.
